The FAIR CITY OF PERTH:
The main town in Perthshire is of course Perth. This attractive small city was capital of Scotland until the mid-15th century and is a prosperous market town. Perth has several times been awarded the title 'the best place to live in the UK.'
The North Inch and South Inch parks offer plenty of space to enjoy sports or a good walk, and the River Tay running through the town gives it an open and attractive perspective. Perth Theatre is one of the finest in Scotland with its own repertory company and an excellent restaurant.
The Black Watch Museum in Balhousie Castle on Hay Street is a 'must' for anyone with a military leaning; and the Fergusson Gallery at Marshall Place has regularly changing art exhibitions. It's well worth checking out this charming gallery and the Perth Museum & Art Gallery which is only a few minutes walk away.
