In 1975, the residents, assisted by Glasgow Corporation and the Historical Buildings Council, completely restored Buckingham Terrace to its former elegance.

The Terrace stands as a monument to Victorian architecture.

The restoration received much acclaim and was commended by the European Communities Architectural Heritage Awards. As a result, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh honoured Buckingham Terrace by his memorable visit which took place on 26th November, 1975.
